Abs Diet-Anyone try it?

I was reading Men's Health and saw this. I like smoothies and eating numerous meals through the day so it looks interesting.

Any one try this before?

I know it's kinda late but I have been following the Abs diet somewhat. I don't follow the smoothie reciepes exactly. I tried it w/ ice cubes like it says but i don't like how watered down it tastes. But I have been making smoothies with protein power, skim milk, nonfat yougurt, blueberries or strawberries, and some ground flaxseed. Very easy to make and very tasty. I'll usually have one for breakfast in the mornings I don't cook something.

I have used some of the receipes for lunch and dinner and the food tastes great.

It just basically gets you to eat 6 smaller meals a day. A breakfast, lunch, and dinner with three snacks after each meal. About 2-3 hours apart. The website helps you plan out your meals.

I have felt a gain in energy and combined that w/ some cardio and weight training have been some definition back in my flabby body. I just started this month. I've lost probably about 10 lbs already. I know a lot of that was probably water weight and just cause my body shed the initial weight so fast because i went from pigging out and not exercising much to eating better and working out.

It does say you can pig out for one meal a week. Eat whatever you want. I know Body-For-Life gives you one full day to pig out. So far I haven't pigged out the whole day but when I pig out I go all out for that meal.

So the Abs diet is good but it says what most other healthy experts would say. Eat 6 smaller meals a day. But I keep going back to the website to look for more good tasting receipes.

Let me know if you have any questions and i can share what I've learned so far.

Complete bullshit. Don't be fooled by these spot-reduction diets.

Have you looked at it? Have you read the book? You're way off.

It's not really a spot reduction diet. They are not emphasizing that six pack abs with a miracle. They talk about a full body workout and give you plans for eating healthier. They're honest about what you need to do. They don't promote supplements or any specific product. It's an overall lifestyle change. It's just like the Body-For-Life program. Six meals smaller meals a day with a workout plan. What's so bullshit about that?

Of course we know the last place we lost fat is the abs. So if someone's goal is to have a six pack then they have to go through a lot of healthy eating and hard work to get there. The book doesn't guarantee overnight success.

the spot reduction crap is those informericals they show with the ab lounger, or pills they sell that say you'll get a flat stomach in no time. No where in those ads (maybe in tiny tiny print) do they say you need to diet and exercise.

So if it was called the "Healthy Diet" or "Fit For Life" and the program was the same it would be more legitimate? Just know how a program works before you say it's crap.

In that case, why call it an abs diet when it's just a weight loss diet?

I'm reading the book right now, almost through it. The only thing that seems contridicting to me, some of the recipes contain foods the book suggests to not eat in earlier sections of the book...

I'll keep you posted.

Sounds like the atkins or south beach diet. They tell you not eat certain foods in the first two weeks but after awhile you can reintroduce certain types of carbs back into your diet.

I think they named it that to stand out from the other endless diet programs out there. Most guys covet six pack abs. They see or hear the title and it gets their attention.

Maybe I missed those parts. I didn't see anything in it that it said you shouldn't eat and then has it in the receipe. This is definitely not like Atkins or South Beach. This one encourages carbs at every meal. Doesn't say to avoid it at anytime.

It encourages "good" carbs, and not the sugary, simple carbs. These are needed for energy to get you through the workouts and the rest of your day.

I did the South Beach for awhile and those first 2 weeks killed me. Had no energy and could barely get through a workout. Now I just watch what carbs I put into my body, except for Saturdays when I eat and drink whatever I want. Nice reward.

Some of the recipes call for the use of ham, while earlier parts of the book say to avoid ham due to the high salt content.

I wouldn't call this a diet really at all, it basically tells you to avoid some basic things in all foods and just make sure you eat 6 times a day.

I dislike the recommendations for the workout. I hate the circuit training aspect, 'do not repeat an exercise until you complete the circuit'. I spend half my workout walking around the gym, from machine to machine. It makes it difficult when using a machine, rack the weight and then do it again.
